Travelling to the UK this September as an International Student? Read This!

Travelling this September? The United Kingdom has seen one of the highest numbers of deaths from Covid-19 around the world, leading to multiple lockdowns. In England, most legal coronavirus restrictions have now been lifted, but there are still restrictions in place regarding travel.

As of July 19, there are no longer limits on how many people can meet inside or outside at private households or in hospitality venues.

Across the UK, there are fears about the impact of the new Delta Covid variant. International travel in and out of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland currently take place under a risk-based “traffic light” system, dividing countries into “Red”, “Amber” or “Green” categories. For the complete list of green list countries and requirements, click here.

As an international student travelling this September to the UK, you will be required to follow the UK Government’s Covid-19 guidelines to enter the country.

Before you travel to the UK, you must do the following;
  • – Take a COVID-19 test. You must take the test in 72hours before you travel – Contact your Counsellor for more info
  • – Book and pay for COVID-19 tests (Quarantine Package) – To be taken after arrival in the UK
  • – Complete a passenger locator form (The form must be completed 48 hours before travel)

On arrival in England you must do the following;
  • – Quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 days
  • – Take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8

Before arriving in the UK, you must purchase what the UK government calls a “Quarantine Package” which will cover your stay in the hotel quarantine, food and drink while there.

The best part is that if you are studying at Birbeck, University of London this September, Birbeck will cover the cost up to £210 of any Covid-19 test you are required to take on arrival in the UK, in line with Government guidance.

To be reimbursed for the cost, you will be required to complete an online form once you have enrolled and arrived at Birkbeck. The application form will be available from 1 September. Read the Birbeck T&C here.

While in the UK, you can make use of the separate NHS Covid 19 App in other to check into venues for contact tracing purposes

      Hello Success,

      Unfortunately, none of our partner universities offers a fully funded scholarship.

      However, get in touch with us and see what schools could be affordable for you. In addition, we advise you to download our Refer Wallet Mobile Application where you will have multiple scholarship updates on there as well as earn money if you refer a student to study abroad.
